This section will be devoted to Scriptural words and their meaning. We will not only establish the etymological roots of these words, but we will reveal how many English words are actually Hebrew words. Everything and anything you might want to know about the Hebrew language will be discussed and presented in this section.E-mail us if you want to know what a particular word is and we will be happy to post it here for all to read. If you are interested in it, maybe many others are, too.
ENOSHIn B'reshiyth chapter five we continue the revelation of the first generations of Adam. We have an account of the generations of the physical seed of Adam which are expressed through the male children. We can safely assume that females were born to Adam and his children, as well. Propagation is fairly difficult otherwise. Adam's fourth child, four being the number of the earth and creation, is Enosh. Enosh is generally translated as 'man' in the text of the Tanakh, but etymologically means man in his weak, desperate and mortal state. It speaks of man's attempt at life in his own strength. The word comes from the Hebrew root 'anas. Here are a few examples of this word in it's verbal root.
